How fees work
Insurance we work with
I am not in network with insurance plans. You pay the practice directly, and you can ask your plan to reimburse you. I do not bill Medicare or Medi-Cal, California's Medicaid. If you want a clinician who does, tell me and I will help you find one.

If you pay yourself
Before you book, you get my fee in writing for each kind of session: a parent or teen session, and a whole-family session. A limited number of reduced-fee sessions are held each month, so ask when you write. If you need to cancel or move a session, I ask for 24 hours' notice.

Receipts for reimbursement
Each month I send an itemized receipt, called a superbill, that you can pass to your plan. For family sessions it is written under one family member's name, so tell me whose plan you want to use. It carries a diagnosis code, which your plan will see. Your plan decides whether it pays you back, and how much.
An estimate in advance
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start, and I give you a written one in advance. If a bill comes to $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract, and you can stop at any point.
Checking your benefits
Before the first session, I can go through your plan's out-of-network benefits with you and tell you what to ask the plan. I cannot promise what a plan will pay.
