What to expect
Your first session
A first session is a conversation, not a test. It lasts 50 minutes, or 75 when the whole family comes.
Before you come
You get my fee in writing, and a link to the intake forms on the practice portal. Please do not send medical details through this website.
Who comes first
With a young child I meet the parents first, without the child. With a teen, the teen helps plan the first session. For a whole family, everyone comes.
The first conversation
We talk about what each person wants from the sessions and what they would rather leave alone for now. Nobody needs the right words, and nobody has to speak.
Before you leave
We agree who comes next, I explain what stays private, and I answer questions about fees and cancellation.
Questions
About the first session
01Does everyone in the family have to come?
No. Some sessions are the whole family, some are a parent alone, some are a teen alone. We decide together who comes.
02What if my child will not talk?
Then they do not have to. Younger children can play or draw, and teens can sit quietly. Nobody is pushed to speak.
03What if it is not a fit?
Then I will say so, and help you look for someone who is. The 15-minute call about fit is one way to find out before you book.
